Sidesmen
Sidesmen are volunteer members of the Church. They serve, by rota, at all Sunday services and at other, major, occasional services.  

Their duties include:-

• welcoming worshippers
• assisting the smooth running of the service
• distributing service-books, hymn books and notice sheets
• escorting worshippers to their seat, when required
• greeting tourists and visitors to the Church
• taking the collection at services and assist in its counting
• collecting and replacing books after each service
• in the event of an emergency, they will seek assistance and, if they are able, offer first aid.

Servers

Servers are volunteer members of the Church. They serve, by rota, at all Sunday Communion services and at other, major, occasional services.  

Their duties include:-

• Preparation of the altar, altar candles, service books and altar vessels  
• Serving the Minister in the Sanctuary during a Communion Service
• Carrying the processional cross and acolyte candles during processions
• Clearing the altar and sanctuary following a Communion Service

We always welcome new Sidesmen and servers to help with this important ministry of the Church. Instruction will be given. If you are interested in becoming a sidemen or server please contact a churchwarden.

Sacristan

The sacristan is a volunteer who has care for the maintenance and preparation of the altar, altar vessels, candles and other communion consumables. Also for preparation of the servers rota.  Current duties at St.Martins.
